I plan on using my GAME plan process with my students by taking what I have learned about the Smart Board and new technologies and putting that into some real-world problem solving with my students. I want my students to feel comfortable using this technology in the math classroom with math information. It is important for my students to be able to solve real-world problems and become more "technologically literate". A lot of my GAME plan was more to help my fellow colleagues. THe other problem with this is that my students do not need to become familiar with the SmartBoard because it is something that they may never use again in their lives. The more that I think about my GAME plan, the more that I am realizing that I should change it to be more student-oriented.

I would disagree ... your students will see and use these boards in higher educational settings, as well as in industry. While we see companies like IBM going virtual in big ways, they are worldwide and have the need for reducing travel. Within local-based businesses, planning business choices, or interacting as a group, these giant mousepads can be used in many ways.
Doubling as a white board, they will be in many areas ... maybe not the home, but then again looking back at famous last words: "I think there is a world market for maybe five computers." - Thomas Watson, chairman of IBM, 1943. Home use anyone? When you write on your refrigerator door, it appears in your iTouch or iPhone! Makes more sense than a LCD TV in a refrigerator door.
I really think you should continue using the SMART BOARDS to show your students that you are being open and willing to learn something new to improve their learning environment. I also do think your students will see the boards again and will be able to interact in class through the board on a higher level. Keep up the good work. You are doing a great job and don't need to question yourself!!

I have to disagree with your comment about your goal not being student centered--as you strengthen your technological skills, more specifically your smartboard skills, your students are inevitably reaping the benefits of your growth. I am sure your lessons are becoming more interactive and engaging as you develop activities that incorporate all the applications of the smartboard. And as the students see your fearlessness with technology they will feel more comfortable trying new methods of learning. Everything comes full circle--keep it up! You inspired me to work on developing my Smartboard skills and my students are loving experimenting with it too.
Anna, what I like most about your comment is that you are willing to scrap everything that we have done for your the benefits of your students. It is really hard to tell if your students will use a Smart Board in their future but just making them familiar with it can't hurt. Technology changes so fast that schools cannot financially keep up with those changes. I am also willing to be that something will come along to replace SmartBoards with in 3-5 years, but they are still a great tool to use now.
