GAME PLAN Progress Week 5

How effective were your actions in helping you to meet your goals?
I have been quite effective with helping to meet my goals this week. I recently attended a seminar on SmartBoards which has helped the quality of not only my lessons, but also the other staff members in my departments' lessons. I have been working very hard to get more of my colleagues "up to snuff" with Smart Board and becoming more comfortable with using it in the classroom.

What have you learned so far that you can apply into your instructional practice?
All of the information that I have learned about the Smart Board has been helping with my instructional practice. I have been using all different kinds of assessments through the Smart Board in order to help my students gain a better understanding of the material.

What do you still have to learn?
There will always be more to learn. I do not feel as though I will ever have all of the questions that people are going to ask.

How will you adjust your current plan?
I do not plan on adjusting my current plan because I have set goals for myself with my GAME plan that allows extra time for me. I might have to adjust the plan because our funding in school just got cut and a lot of professional development will not be paid for anymore because of it.

Anna,
I went to a Smart Technology seminar last Thursday, and I learned a lot about the capabilities of my Smartboard. I am disappointed because our students are on break next week, so I cannot apply what I learned right away.

Does your school have the student response clickers? Our school is lucky enough to have to sets of thirty "clickers" that have amazing applications in class--you can do quick assessments of whole class learning that really seem to increase student engagement and learning. I am excited to use what I have learned when my students return from spring break. The smartboard can do so much more than I ever thought--I am excited to use it for more than just a glorified overhead projector.

Anna,
I think it is great that you are implementing things now. I debated about really jumping into the changes set forth by my GAME plan, but I figured why not use the remainder of the year to experiment with the new technologies. It is great your district is still offering professional development at this point in the school year. Most of ours come at the beginning and that is it. Nice job bringing things in so quickly.

I agree that there is always more and more to learn. Smartboard is a very useful tool for students in all classes and of all grade levels. It makes learning interactive which is always a great idea!
Thanks!!
